A New Approach to Church in Alicante:

Embracing Flexible Faith Communities

Welcome to Costa Blanca English Church, a new and inclusive Alicante church community created for people who are looking for something different. Whether you live here on the Costa Blanca full-time, are a seasonal resident, or just visiting this beautiful part of Spain, we invite you to be part of something welcoming, open, and life-giving.

We believe faith and community should fit real life—not the other way around. That’s why Costa Blanca English Church offers a flexible approach to Christian community. You don’t have to attend church every week to belong, and you don’t have to fit into a traditional “stereotype” to be welcomed here. We are building a network of local gatherings across Alicante province where you can explore faith, find friendship, and experience God’s love—at your own pace.

A New Kind of Church for Life in Alicante Province

Life here along the Costa Blanca is full of opportunity, beauty, and unique rhythms. But for many English speakers—whether expats, retirees, professionals, or travelers—it can also feel a little isolating. We understand that life here doesn’t always match up with the traditional church schedule or structure. That’s why we’re creating a church in Alicante that offers something different.

Costa Blanca English Church is starting small, with a vision to grow into a network of local groups throughout the Alicante region. Whether in homes, cafés, parks, or by the sea, these gatherings are about bringing people together in a relaxed and supportive environment. You’ll find no pressure, no judgment, and no expectations—just a space to belong.

Our Vision: An Inclusive Alicante Church for Everyone

Our vision is simple:
To offer a welcoming, flexible Christian community in Alicante where everyone belongs.

We believe that we are all God’s creations—beautiful, diverse, and worthy of love. It doesn’t matter where you come from, what your background is, or where you are on your spiritual journey. You may not consider yourself religious at all; you may have spiritual beliefs but no formal faith tradition. Whatever your story, you are welcome here.

At Costa Blanca English Church, we embrace people from all walks of life, including those who may have felt excluded by traditional churches. We are an inclusive Alicante church community, affirming that everyone is made in God’s image and deserves a place to feel valued and accepted.

How We’re Starting: Building Something Together – For Everyone in Alicante and the Province

Right now, we are at the beginning of this journey. Over time, we aim to create small, friendly groups across the province of Alicante where people can gather, share life, and explore faith together. These groups will be relaxed and informal—sometimes over coffee, sometimes on a beach walk, sometimes online.

We are listening closely to what people want and need from an Alicante church community. Whether you’re interested in local gatherings, online discussions, casual meet-ups, or something else, we welcome your ideas. If you feel called to help organize a local group or simply want to be part of the conversation, we would love to hear from you.

This isn’t about formal membership or weekly attendance. It’s about community that fits around real life and offers genuine connection whenever you need it.

Meet Reverend Steven: A Journey of Faith and Calling

Costa Blanca English Church is led by Reverend Steven, who has lived on the Costa Blanca for over two decades. His life has been shaped by a rich spiritual heritage and a personal journey that led him back to his calling.

Steven comes from a long family line of pastors and ministers on his grandfather’s side, with a tradition of ministry dating back to the 1800s. He was baptised as a Methodist as a child—a compromise between his family’s evangelical and Anglican roots—and later confirmed in the Church of England. As a chorister and an active member of the church community in his youth, he sensed a calling to ministry early on but wrestled with personal conflicts around the traditional church.

In 2023, after many years of reflection and spiritual searching, Steven experienced a profound spiritual awakening. Answering the call he had first heard as a young man, he was ordained and founded Costa Blanca English Church—an inclusive and compassionate church community for English speakers in Alicante.

“I believe church should be a place where everyone feels at home, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey. Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or returning after time away, you’ll find a warm welcome here.” — Reverend Steven
