Questions and Answers
Do you have a physical Church?
No, at least not yet, but neither did Jesus. One of the things that led me away from mainstream “religions” was the fact that organisations in the mainstream tend to accumulate enourmous wealth which si invested in property which if laiden with guild and valuables and left locked and closed for 90% of the time whilst outside there are people less fortunate sleeping in the rain.
Our goal as we grow and register as a “Religious Organisation” will be to find one or more suitable meeting places if that is what our friends want but something that we can use for little to no cost as a place to get together.
We do not believe, nor did Jesus state that a church is where you have to go to pray or to believe. Our focus in the short term is to build a small community of likeminded Christians, organise meetings where appropriate in public places (what could be better than a chinwag over a coffee?) and of course Rev. Steven is available to come to you where appropriate.
How does the Costa Blanca English Church make money?
We don´t! As things Stand Reverend Steven offers his services in a religious and pastorial care capacity strictly on a voluntary basis to help those who need it and to share the love of God and the word of Jesus.
Spain grants religious freedom for groups to form and it is on that basis that we exist. That being said, our plan if the lord wishes is to register the Church as a Religious Organisation at some point in the future so that we can fundraise for the community and also for the animals which is a particular passion of Rev. Steven.
In the meantime, when asked “do you accept donations?” the answer is no we don´t. The most is if I am asked to travel a long way that you are welcome to cover travel costs if you wish but other than that, of you feel you wish to donate for servcies received then lease feel no obligation but there are many animal shelters on the Costa Blanca who are desperately in need and any donations made to them would be received by them with blessings and thanks.
Is Reverend Steven a real Priest?
What makes a real priest? Let´s perhas not go too deely into that! But in short the answer is yes. I am not ordained with the CofE, Catholic or any other mainstream church. My ordination is through the ULC with whom I have been given the title Reverend Father. I also have all of the certificates and notiarsed documentation.
Does that make me a “priest” in Spain? Well, actually in Spain anyone can setup a religious group and call themselves a leader of it or use the word Priest if they wish as long as they don´t mislead people into thinkning that they are part of the Catholic or Mainstream Sanish churches so you too can be a priest if you want but in the case off Rev Steven, is a fully Ordained Minister with the ULC and has a strong family background of ministers and church leaders as well as being brought up and indeed following mainstream religion until more recently when I have come to hold slightly different beliefs which can be read about on the “what we believe” page.
More coming as we grow the website -but in the meantime....,
